New traditions: Sundays at Golden Road Brewing
Oh dear, we had a little blog lapse! But it’s back to business as usual!
We were recently invited to join in on a little Sunday tradition with some Atwater Village friends at the pub at Golden Road Brewing. And boy am I hooked – perfect LA weather, good company, and nonstop pitchers of beer. We’ll be back this weekend, for sure.
The thing about Golden Road beer, is that the beer does taste better on tap. While I don’t exactly have a history of enjoying canned brewskies, there’s just something a little bit “better” about enjoying a freshly poured Point the Way IPA. Although we do love that the graphics on both the cans and the packaging for the IPA features Laveta Terrace, which is just right around the corner from our Echo Park diggs. Nothing like seeing your own ‘hood on a cold can of beer!
The pub also offers a variety of guest beers on tap, including some Barley Wine, stouts, and my favorite local breweries like Hangar 24 and Eagle Rock Brewery. Sit outside on the breezy patio if you’d like, either way you’ll need to head inside to order.
Knowing that owner Tony Yanow is an avid vegan, we knew to expect a variety of options on the Golden Road Pub menu. We only ordered one item this time around but it’s definitely a favorite – the giant Bavarian-style pretzel with spice Dijon mustard and Pimento cheesed dip. Do not underestimate the spicy mustard – despite a warning, I got cocky on the first dip and it made me a little teary-eyed.
Word is we’ll have to try the Vegan Meatballs and the Fritters (of which there are three different kinds). Check the website for an up-to-date list of what’s on tap.
Happy beer drinking!
