Your guide to Los Angeles Beer Week 2017
June 18th marks the NINTH year of LA Beer Week, celebrating independent and local Los Angeles craft beer. Los Angeles now boasts over 60 craft breweries in the county, many taking home awards from the stage of amazing competitions like the Great American Beer Fest, LA International Beer Competition and more. Showcasing the best of the best, LA Beer Week will keep you busy, buzzed and wanting more of what LA has to offer.
There are so many great events it’s nearly impossible to choose – which is why we recommend scrolling through the entire LA Beer Week calendar. Nonetheless, here are our top picks for how you should spend your afternoons and evenings from June 17th through the 25th (ordered by date/time):
LA Beer Week Kickoff festival
Saturday, June 17 | Tickets
Local breweries plus a few special guests will showcase over 75 craft breweries and 150+ beers at the Los Angeles Center Studios in Downtown LA. VIP admission is $70 and gets you in an hour early, with General Admission at $50. LA Brewers Guild Enthusiast members get 20% off tickets.

Rarest of the Rare at Smog City
Sunday, June 18 at 11:00 am in Torrance
It’s been two years since this LA gem has held Rarest of the Rare and it’s worth the wait (only time can age those beers, after all!). In addition to a “comprehensive tasting of Smog City beers on tap” there are over a dozen varieties of bottles for sale, like four years of Cuddlebug and two years of Snugglebug (both American Wild Ale styles) plus so, so much more.
Father’s Day

A guided tour of “Slow Beer” led by brewmaster Naga Reshi of Dry River Brewing. Start at Sunset Beer Co, walk down to The Holloway, then Bar Bandini and finally at Mohawk Bend for a special VIP happy hour. Tickets are $5 and do not include your beers, but all proceeds benefit The Pink Boots Society.
Beer vs. Wine featuring Cellador Ales

Battle of the Bands
Tuesday, June 20 at 6pm in Highland Park | Tickets
Who know there were so many talented musicians in the craft beer world? Your favorite LA breweries will duke it out for the trophy and bragging rights in this year’s fourth annual Eagle Rock Brewery Battle of the Bands. This year’s lineup is includes Eagle Rock Brewery, 38 Degrees, Beachwood BBQ & Brewing, The Bruery, El Segundo Brewing Co., Highland Park Brewery, Pizza Port, Sunset Beer Company, State Brewing and Three Weavers. Each band has 15 minutes to showcase their best talents and audience members vote for their favorite.

Mythological Creatures Night

Craft beer bar and bottle shop Sunset Beer Company is featuring drafts of beers named after Mythological creatures. Yetis, unicorns and other strange creatures may make an appearance!
Free DTLA Brewery shuttle w/ LA Beer Hop
Thursday, June 22 at 6:00 pm in DTLA
Hop on, hop off free brewery shuttle every 20-30 minutes at six DTLA breweries, including Indie Brewing Company, Angel City Brewery, Boomtown Brewery, Arts District Brewing Co., Iron Triangle Brewing DTLA and Dry River Brewing Company.
Highland Park Brewing + El Segundo Beer Bros

Sierra Nevada Beer Camp
Saturday, June 24 at noon in Long Beach | Tickets
The second Beer Camp held in Los Angeles, this is a MUST attend beer fest featuring “hundreds” of craft beers poured by some of the best craft breweries nationally and internationally. The festival also highlights a series of brews created in a collaboration program between six US and six overseas breweries. The result is a collection of 12 beers ranging from Porters to Double IPAs, Lagers and Ales that are being distributed nationwide.

Close out LA Beer Week Tropical and Hawaiian fruit themed casks from El Segundo Brewing plus whole roasted pigs from Lil’ Simmzy’s on the Deck.
Jeffer’s Acid Trip

Barrelworks barrelmeister Jeffers Richardson will be leading a tour of wild ales at four West Side locations, ending at The Propagator. If you want to learn about sour beers from the best of the best, this is your chance!
