Five LA bars where you can celebrate International Stout Day
Thursday, November 3 is International Stout Day, a celebration of the iconic beer style. After all, there’s IPA Day in August so why not a day for stout?
Here are a few of our favorite places to grab a craft stout beer because they usually have at least one on tap (or they are celebrating with a special event!).

38 Degrees Ale House Alhambra
Grab a Stout Slider and Stout beer flight and pairing starting at 6:00pm. For dessert? An Epic Brewing Big Bad Baptist with vanilla bean ice cream, caramel and spiced cashews. Check the event details for more featured beers and food.
Barbara’s at the Brewery
The best craft beer bar you’ve likely never heard of, Barbara’s at the Brewery is a gem! The taplist is always carefully curated and the food gets better and better every time. While they haven’t announced a specific Stout Day event, currently they have Alesmith Speedway Stout and Beachwood’s Udder Love Milk Stout. Click here for the live taplist!
Sunset Beer Co
With over 12 taps in the tasting room and over 700 bottles of beer in the retail section, you won’t have any issues finding a fantastic barrel-aged stout, milk stout, imperial stout, dry stout, etc. Grab a bottle of Uinta Bourbon Barrel-Aged Stout, go weirder with a Tahoe Mountain Brett Stout, or New Holland Brewing’s Dragon’s Milk Coconut Rum Barrel Stout.
Stout Burgers and Beers
The name alone, well it’s just perfect! But the taplist at any of the three Los Angeles locations (Santa Monica, Hollywood and Studio City) will be no doubt DIVINE no matter what day you go on. On Stout Day they are offering a dessert and 4 oz pour (any beer) combo for $6, or $8 for dessert and a barrel-aged beer.
On tap in Santa Monica will be Alesmith Vietnamese Speedway Stout, North Coast Brewing Co. Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, and possibly Allagash Hive 56 (a dark sour – yum!).
In Hollywood, they’re featuring North Coast Brewing Co. Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, Bear Republic Barrel #101 (Big Bear Black Soured), and Lagunitas Willett Whiskey Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout.
Mohawk Bend
With over 70 taps of beer there should be little trouble finding a good stout. We’ve been pretty much obsessed with Kern River’s Class V American Double Stout as of late, and they will most likely have North Coast’s Old 38 Dry Irish Stout on Nitro. Even though Barley Forge’s The Patsy Coconut Rye Porter is not a stout… no one will know as you sip that delicious, creamy dark beer at the bar.
Pro tip: Happy hour is served in the Pub & Patio from 3-7pm Monday – Friday, with late-night happy hour from 1opm-close.
